This post today is my contribution for the Hunt: lonely tree.
OK, you only see the gigantic roots of a banyantree spreading over the roof of the temple Ta Prohm - Angkor. It's realy an old lonely jungle-giant.

Angkor in Cambodia was the heart of the Khmer Empire for about 550 years (9th to 15th centuries) before overpopulation and environmental degradation lead to its abandonment. At its peak, the city spawled over an area the size of Los Angeles and supported more than a million people. This picture shows Ta Prohm, a buddhist monastic complex where some of the original vegetation has been left uncleared by archaeologists.

It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hi Wishnu

The classic shot of Angkor Wat. Would also look good in sepia tones. Good work.

Hi Sabine,

Cool shot and well done on the composition.

Mike

Great photo. Very strongly speaking example of nature's power. tfs

Marek

hahah. I posted almost the same exact photo here a long time ago. Check it out in my gallery if you want. :)

I love this place. nice shot! JP

Hello Sabine, this is really one kind of a tree! Good composition and pov. But I am not so sure on the colour on the ground. Good texture on the roof.

But this is a great entry for the hunt :)

Take care, Yan

Good shot

What a shot! Those trees look like aliens from outer space. This is a place I want to see also because of it's architectural ruins. Very nicely done.

Also, I want to thank you for your comments on my photo, "Fire Escape".

Namaste Wishu,
This is a very well balanced pisture and the colors give a very dramatic effect to the composition. I wish I clould take some pics of this giant. The contrast of yellow on roof and the old dark windows is awsome.

Good one,
Regards,
Shahid

What a strange and beautiful picture,Sabine! very interesting notes! Tfs! Michel

Salut Wishnu.
Tu a photographié très exactement l'endroit que je préfère dans toute la cité d'Angkor. Les branches de ces fromagers qui envahissent les ruines sont un souvenir mémorable. Merci pour le partage. Amitié, Patty.

A Special picture from a Special place.
Very well taken.
Jan

I have been to Cambodia 6 or 7 times in the last 3 years and never got to Angkor, will make it one day. A good shot here.

This tree looks like some giant octopus wanting to destroy everything within its reach. Amazing place and imppressive photo. Maybe just a little bit too bright?

Hallo Sabine,
Janusz

Hi!

Is the tree guarding the temple or is he trying to destroy it? Thanks that the archeologists did not clear all vegetation, This scene is unique
