This is one of a series of experimental self-portraits I did in the bathroom of a hotel in Lanzhou, when I had nothing much else to do. I set the camera up on a tripod, facing the large bathroom mirror. The camera is in fact visible in this shot - look for the green light. I then set it on timer, and a relatively long exposure of 4 seconds. I sat in a corner, and flashed a small LED light at myself, then moved, and did the same again, and then flicked a lighter a few times. There is thus no post-processing trickery in this photo; just a little playing with time and light. My favourite aspect of this pic is probably the way that my right forearm seems to be evaporating; a kind of mutilated ghost arm.
