[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A juxtapositioning of the old Anglican Church, built in 1905, against the hazy bg skyscrapers, of downtown Tianjin, looming out of the post industrial smog.

The abandoned church is no longer in use.

"A little farther down Tai’an dao I passed an abandoned Anglican church, once All Saints, to come to Victoria Park. Here the Chinese amahs or nursemaids would bring the English children they cared for to play."

Hi Chris,
The point of view makes us pass from the antique to the modern one. The smog gives a realistic side of the life of today. Beautiful composition and colors like always very natural

Hi, Chris!

Interesting, unique POV, likes the the confrontation of the church and the skyscraper.

What a fascinating find, Chris!
Super juxtaposition indeed. Is the church still in use? It does look a little rundown

I'm amazed that it hasn't been bulldozed to make way for apartments or another highrise - and incredible that it survived the revolutions of the 50s and 60s!

I can see what you were attempting to do with your juxtaposition of the two structures; personally I think it would've worked better from a different angle, so that the highrise was immediately adjacent the church, or even rising up above it in the distance.

That way you could also have included more of the church itself - which just seems to be getting really interesting towards the left hand side!

Excellent subject though, good metering and sharpness.

i like the old Church building. i hope they will restore it as it is very beautiful. im not that crazy looking at the tall skyscrapers on the other side.. :) but a lovely comparison of the past and present of the old and new.

wonderful shot, Chris.

Hello Chris,
Abandoned and lack of maintennance but still a picturesque subject!
Effective composition, that expose the church through contrasting to surroundings...
Good details in the old church, amazing to see how vegetation takes over!
Greetings,
Pablo -

I love the 2 periods architecture, well caught and the faint colours goes well with the weathered stone church.
Good use of available light and smog.

Very well done! Yan :)

Hi Chris,
A good contrast between old and new, a bit spoilt by the ugly red apartment building.

How interesting to see this old-type English church here in China, and especially with that BG of skyscrapers and flats, Chris.
Good one
Janice

Hi John,

I like the contrast between the old and the modern, very well seen and captured. The mood is excellent, the DOF very good, the lighting is also good and the detail and sharpness great!
