[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Around 1-2,000 feet above us, a larger, much faster jet speeds past maybe heading to Vietnam or Thailand. It was surprising to se the difference in speed, maybe we were slowing but not yet descending.

Thanks to Hans for his comments on speed.

Great capture!! Very rare to see this event, although I guess someone who travels as often as you is more likely to encounter it, but better luck still to have camera-in-hand at the time, because the moment would surely pass in seconds!

Murray,

Lucky you were sitting where you were, or you'd have a little plane at the top of a blue sky! :D

This is really an interesting shot of the two. I do still think it's kind of scary with all of the planes that are in the air at once. Cheers to all of the wonderful controllers. :D

thanks for sharing... Interesting take. Lisa

Hello Murray.
Always there is one above you, haha
Thats were 'fast-faster-fastest'comes from.?
But better to slow down and life takes longer, right ?
Good 'shot in the air'.
Have a nice day, Muray.
Greetings from Jan

Murray, it's quite clear given the multiple windows, plane vibration and getting pushed about by passengers etc etc. when you think about it - it's a great result and nicely constructed too - bravo!

Hi Murray,
Missed this posting, sorry. A nice shot of the air highway over asia :-) When coming from the opposite the plane will disappear much faster :-) Well the difference in speed will flying in the same direction can be caused by the jet steams in different altitudes. It might be that the 747 has much more tail wind (or less wind against) these differences might be as large as 50 knots or more with a altitude difference of 1000 ft. Anyway I also might be the guy in the 747 is in a hurry to get in to the bar before it's closing. :-) Nice posting my friend!
Hans
