Great street shot.. and a good capture of the kids daily life... I like that the 3 kids are all in different action shots! from you POV that intersection is HUGE!

we also have "skate parks" (well that is what we call them!) for the kids.. but you still see them on church steps and in town or anything that has a rail! lol.....

The "golden arches" are everywhere!

Yup you're right it is dangerous in China. And kids are just playing around...
This picture shows how it is in China.
It's a good capture of what is going on every day in China.

Brrr - awfull statistics - hope these kids are not going to end up another statistic.
Hi Anneke, hier zat je dus op je hurken omhoog te kijken naar het straatbeeld om je heen - kon je direct in slaap vallen of lag je 's avonds nog na te denken over alle nieuwe indrukken die jullie op hadden gedaan.

Great urban shot, indeed a dangerous place to play. Those Chines traffic casualties statistics are indeed horifying, well your posting is great a nice contribution to the portfolio of Chinese pictures here on TL.

A very actual shot of the new street life in China. Every city seems to be now a Metropolis with huge traffic , street signs, and thousands of pedestrians, bikes, scooters, cars, etc....

Cool composition to demonstrate your note. Well done.

Hi Anneke,

I see your concern, but Kunming's traffic is actually rather tame and safe by Chinese standards. Since arriving here in January 2005, I haven't seen the site of a single serious accident. That's not to say that they don't happen, of course, but it's not really that bad here. The worst stuff usually happens on the highways and country roads, where people often may as well drive blindfolded.

An interesting take, but I think that the photo is far too dark and lacking in contrast to really do it justice and bring it out.
