[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in very bad conditions of light. And the photographer was exhausted for having walked during hours in Hong Kong.
I am a fan of Asian literature and I just finished this week-end the novel titled "Sputnik Sweetheart" by the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. Reading Asian novels is a way like another to go on with my travel in Hong Kong.

I associated this photo while I was reading this book.

Herebelow is an extract of this story :
"In the spring of her 22nd year, Sumire fell in love for the first time in her life. The person she fell in love with happened to be 17 years older than Sumire. And was married. And, I should add, was a woman. This is where it all began, and where it all wound up. Almost. At the time, Sumire - Violet in Japanese - was struggling to become a writer. Nothing could come between her and her faith in literature.
Miu had heard of Jack Kerouac and had a vague sense that he was a novelist of some kind. What kind of novelist, though, she couldn't recall.
"Kerouac . . . Hmm . . . Wasn't he a Sputnik?"
Sumire couldn't figure out what she meant.
"Sputnik? You mean the first satellite the Soviets sent up, in the 50s? Jack Kerouac was an American novelist. I guess they do overlap in terms of generation. . . ."
"Isn't that what they called the writers back then?" Miu asked. She traced a circle on the table with her fingertip, as if rummaging through some special jar full of memories.
"Sputnik . . . ?"
Finally it dawned on Sumire. "Beatnik!"
Ever since that day, Sumire's private name for Miu was Sputnik Sweetheart. Sumire loved the sound of it."

You did it again! Encore s.v.p.!

Fun juxtaposition of images, Sylvie. This is just a tad out of focus, as you suggest, but it still manages to convey interesting things.

i could have sworn this was a advertisment in a magazine i saw

Jean Michel

Good composition! I'm sorry. Out of point for today! The green of the eye + the green shadow & the green signal for people give a connection between the real world & the advertising i think.

I love your style . . . truly thematic with great impact. Keep on working!

what can i say? u did it again Sylvie. Always a little abstract yet still able to convey the message well. great job....sometimes even if a little off focus, it's the idea and concept that matters more. well donE!

Hello sputnik sweetheart!;-) nice tender note and an interesting photo... i like the compo you have chosen despite the lack of light...Thanks for making us discover some writers and books i have never heard of...

Eric

Salut Sylvie. Beauté troublante et raccord couleurs... Bcp de mystère. J'adore. Patty.

A little out of focus, but full of meaning!
Ana

Sputnik/Beatnik - that really is a great story to go with the photo. And it obviously raises the photo up from the level where someone could consider it an unsharp and confused night vision. It is a very clear and conscise association and vision.

Very original and effective composition Sylvie and a very good note to go along with it ..excellent work !

Sylvie, elle est superbe la photo. J'adore.

belle photo

Very cool image... I like the lighting a lot, and the slight blur adds interest to the photo. Well done.
