[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The fly was taking a rest on the hood of my car. It is one of my first macro shots and i think it came out very good.
I used a tripod to allow me to use a slow shutter speed for greater depth of view.
I don't know what type of fly it is. If you know you are welcome to drop me a line.

Good picture, very good details!
I think you're very lucky that the fly stayed there the whole time, in spite of the following:
1. it took you to grab a tripod;
2. by mounting the tripod on the hood of your car, you probably caused it to vibrate to some extent, and the fly probably sensed that; and
3. you held the camera and lens very close to the fly.
By "lucky" I am not referring to the technique of macro shooting, about which I don't know too much, only to the opportunity to take the picture.
Now let's suppose you weren't going to take the chance of that fly just flying off - how would the end result differ had you held the camera yourdelf and set the exposure to, say, 1/45 seconds (changing the apperture accordingly)?
Yaron.
