[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a photo of the Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices in Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is strange mix of new and old buildings especially if you venture out of the central district.
I think this shows pretty well how new high rise apartment and office buildings shoot up in between old buildings. Old buildings in Hong Kong are somewhere between 15 and 30 years old. Any older than that and they are usually demolished to make space for a new building. Sort of a use-and-throw-away mentality. It's not like in Denmark and other places where old buildings are renovated into very fashionable and expensive apartment buildings.

I didn't notice the lens flare until I got home. First I was a bit annoyed with it but now I thinks it looks okay and gives the impression of strong sunlight which was definitely the case. What do you think?

I didn't do to much PP on this. Slight increase of saturation and a little level adjustment and of course sharpened.

Hope you like it.

Cheers,
Jens

Jens,
Wow...a good reflective architecture shot! The lens flare actually adds to this shot. The buildings remind me of Tokyo..skinny and straight up!
I like the POV here....well done.
Scott

Great capture of the reflections in the windows the colours are spot on and I also like the lens flare it adds to the shot. Is it an illusion though or does the frame on the right slope outwards from bottom to top?

I also noticed the illusion. The reason, I think, is that the wide angle is making it look like the traffic light is tilting towards the middle. It might be somewhat the same as the "cafe wall illusion" (tjek it out here: http://www.exploratorium.edu/exhibits/cafe_wall/cafe.html).

I agree that this is a very nice way to capture Hong Kongs old and new sides in a single shot. I like the reflection and the lensflare to. That said I think I would have cropped the little white triangle in the top right corner out of the frame. I think it disturbes the symmetry.

wow great reflection... nice idea.. tfs!

Excellent city shot Jens! Lots of colour and lots to look at, composition is OK and cant say I could of composed it any different. The reflections look great, and while some will think the lens flare will spoil this a little, I rather think it adds somehing to the top section of the image where theres not a lot happening. All in all a very interesting city shot!

Dean

Beautiful:) The reflection is amazing, so clear and crisp. Nice framing/cropping, I like how you've captured the city's skyline as well as life on the street all at once:)
Tfs,
Izabela
