Taken using a 60 mm macro from underneath the banana tree with the sun directly above the leaf. The shadow is the leaf above. The smooth texture of these leaves is remarkable. I have tried to use the rule of thirds to what might be seen as a rather ordinary subject. I like the simplicity and perfection of these huge leaves.

Hello Mike,
nice idea and the shades of green makes the shot very intresing and the rule of thirds is working very well. But i think that these kinds of macro shot needs to be sharper for effect. But then its just my opinion. But its a nice idea. Thanks for sharing.
I think this is a nice, simple macro - lacking, if anything, a point of interest or focus; it would make a good desktop background I guess. More contrast might make a difference, I'm not sure ... I do like the way the parallel lnes diverge into a kind of 'melt' on the right of the frame.

I saw sometime banana leaf in Chinatown... Or Real at Botanical Garden. We don't have good condition to make they grow outside but at least i can have good idea on how the light influence in an excellent way the texture. It's even funny how the texture react in the left border at the 2/3 of the top... I believe it's a result of the monitor that kind of pattern... It's real at this point on TV actors had restriction for some kind of small pattern who produce that!
It's nothing bad! I find the light fantastic here!
WOW ........ !
Hello Mike,
Beautiful shot. I really like the shimmering colours and light.
