hey, not a bad experiment, Pal. fireworks in B/W, why not, eh? looks great too.
is the BG cloud or smoke from the f'works?
perhaps it could be prettier to wait til the f'works burst to have that shower of sparks. these look more like launched missiles.
an experiment worth trying, thanks, pal.
TFS

Hi Richard,
Well captured ... very good tonal range and contrast. Quite a dynamic shot with the fireworks. The noise actually adds texture. Well composed! tfs

Hi Richard,
You have tried something I have never thought about, Fireworks in B&W hmmm you know I quite like it, in my mind it's something that shouldn't work but it does, thanks what photography is allabout, experimentation and you have what for me is a first and a success, I like the way you have the silhouetted bushes on the right and the Disney castle with good detail on the left, all that with the frozen comet trails from the firework come together really well, the camera has handled the noise well at ISO 1600,
Well done
Regards Andy

hehehe, looks like an old castle at some fair or so.
Interesting experiment.
thanks,
v
ps.A bit more contrast (the black is not really black, at least on my monitor) ?!

You never cease to amaze richard! Yeah, I tend to agree with you about the noise, sometimes it looks bad, and sometimes it makes a photo.
You definitely have a knack for catching the moment; there is alot to be said for that. Its not as easy as some may think.
Keep up the good work man!

Interesting shot. I kind of like them just before exploding, makes it different from the normal fireworks shot, not to mention the black and white.
In fact, since it's black and white, I really think the exploded fireworks, which are cool for all the colors, would have been lost in this interpretation; it's the rocket trails that actually make the BW work here, in my opinion.
Pretty neat little experiment, noise is fine for the night shot and adds a nice feel.
I, if I can pick a bit, do wish the castle was framed by the fireworks behind it a little better, but that's a nit-pick.
The image is very cool!
Well done,
TFS,
Wilt

Hi Scottish Friend!
At least it's aorigonal way of showing fireworks in B&W! Great contrast and which shows some of the details of the Disney castle but also the tiny fire particles of the fireworks. Due the of centre position the composition is well balanced. In short: I like it :-)
It's a small world after all.

Wow, that is quite an experiment and pretty impressive actually. I like the way the fireworks come from mid point beyond the horizon and flare out across the frame. Good lighting that there are still details visible beneath. Amazingly good detail in some parts of the structure. This is a really nice shot. Many thanks,
Shelly

Hi Kilted Arab!
I am sure that other members from Scotland will tell you what a great shot this is, but I would ask you to think about whether that is down to their honest opinion or misguided patriotism. Sorry, but this is a boring shot.

don't worry about the noise richard! this looks perfect!!
what amazes me is how you were able to capture the trails at 1/320th of a second :)
thanks for sharing ;)

Hi Richard,
interesting and innovative shot. Nice composition - I love the way the fireworks fan out from the castle. The noise adds to it.
Cheers, John.

That is a cool picture. i would have never thought about putting a fireworks picture in black and white. that is super cool though. It doesn't even feel dreary or black and white at all. very nice, TFS.

With all due deference to swiatopelk777 (don't know who that is !!!), I do like the textures here -- an original and unusal fireworks posting. Not too sure about the noise level though, sorry -- but that really could be the monitor here -- so full marks it is :)
Cheers
