[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the southeast corner of Beijing there is a morning market called the Ghost Market. It received this name because at one time this market was filled with real antiques whose owners once lived and have now passed - thus they are ghost's owned and treasured. The market represents the most interesting of "yard sales" or "flea markets".

A section of the market is devoted to what you see here. The photo is just a small portion of this iconic section as it alone stretches almost 200 meters by 50 meters. All a mixed iconography (statuary) of many faiths. Each item may have a story as to where it was once enshrined and then when it was once removed and eventually laid to rest here in the hopes of a better home.

At 100-500 kilos each or more it is hardly the item one packs away and totes home. It is estimated that there are over 50,000 such statues on sale here.

I have taken over 300 images of this section and nealy 4,500 images of the entire market. I have maped this place and now have a photo of/with each vendor, each building and its inner contents, and many closeups of unique items "for sale". I would be glad to share and help add insight to others who have an interest in "Punjaiyuan" ... this, the Ghost Makret of Beijing.
