[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The brick kiln at the rear entrance to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. It reads:

"Firewood Stove: The firewood stove is a huge, round, green, glazed, brick stove. Before the ceremony of worshipping heaven began, a clearly washed & shaved calf, was put on the stove, & burned with pine twigs & reeds, in order to welcome the God of Heaven - a ritual of giving a warm welcome to the imperial God by burning firewood. After the ceremony was completed, all the offerings, and ceremonial placards, and silk scrolls, were respectively transferred to the stove, and put inside to be burnt, while the Emperor stood by watching it - a ritual called 'the watching the burning'"

And no, my Chinese translation skills are not that good. The text underneath the Chinese Kanji text, is in English.

Hi Chris,

Very interesting and educational this picture. Excellent details and colors. Very good description.
Have a good Sunday,
Adrian

Hello Chris,

The colours (the strong reds and greens), the textures and the shapes make this an interesting shot. Your nicely angled pov, leads the eyes up one side of the steps and after a quick recky, down the other side.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris,
Crisp and clear with poerfect contrasting colours. Simple but very attractive. A fine image my friend.
Hans

Bonjour Chris.
La couleur verte de ces briques est très représentative de cette région et la construction de se monument contraste bien avec le reste du paysage rouge et le bleu du ciel.
Bonne journée.
Urs

Ciao Chris

I loved the text and the story of how did this stove!
I love the colors, they remind me of the colors of Jade!
From very good taste in angle,
Sharpness and clarity are superb.
Good captured and composed, nice colors too.

Very nice sunday,

Sergio

Hi Chris,

Well, this is the first green brick oven I've seen. I like the perspective you chose, to cut a bit of the green oven from the left and include the red wall behind it. Interesting color contrasts, TFS.

Best regards,
Werner

HI Chris
The bright colors that the chinese use are very present and well saturated, and the compo giving good results is fascinating.
Interesting note and I wonder if the calf was alive when they put it on the stove?
