We are celebrating Diwali which is the biggest festival of Hindus. I post here a plate full of sweets and wish all my dear freinds at TL a very happy deepavali.

Divali, or Deepavali is a major Indian festival, significant in Hinduism , Jainism and Sikhism.

Celebrated by Hindus,Jains and Sikhs across the globe, as the "Festival of Light," where the lights or lamps signify the uplighting of darkness and victory of good over the evil within.

The celebrations focus on lights and lamps, particularly traditional dīpa or deeya (earthen lamp), and fireworks. Though colloquially called Divali in North India, in South India it is called Deepavali.

Divali is celebrated for five consecutive days at the end of Hindu month of Ashwayuja (amanta). It usually occurs in October/November, and is one of the most popular and eagerly awaited festivals in India.

Hindus, Jains and Sikhs alike regard it as a celebration of life and use the occasion to strengthen family and social relationships.

For Hindus it is one of the most important festivals, and beginning of the year in some Hindu calendars, especially in North India.

In India, Divali is now considered to be more of a national festival, and the aesthetic aspect of the festival is enjoyed by most Indians regardless of faith.

Namaste Pankaj,
I'm very interested to hear that you have a big celebration, I never heard of Diwali and I have to "Google" after TL to have more informations about this. I love the shot with all the wonderful and delicious sweets. Totaly different from the things that we bake or eat here in Germany. And the plate behind is beautiful. I love your country so much, I visited Rajasthan 4 years ago, fantastic!
Thanks and many greetings to you and your family and friends, enjoy your day.

Thanks for the sweets...being away from home makes me long for them all the more ;)
Anyhow Cheers!

`I have the copy and wonder if you are not really a professional of high caliber. This in large format is super duper...and although I have probably never touched such things..I would not mind trying. Your picture makes it look so grand!
