[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just arrived in Delhi a few days ago and took this snap from a car while being driven to work. The conditions where people live are quite shocking for me coming from the UK. There are many homes/shelters at the side of roads on my journey to work which are basically a few pieces of wood and a tarpaulin with whole families living there.
I left the pole and tarpaulin in the left of this shot as this is the children’s home.

This reminds me an Indian Film " Slumdog Millionaire " Derek
A very decent Daily-life capture with true clarity and a very nice composition!

I like the composition, however if u could add upper portion more than the empty space of ground here, would have been much better (in my opinion only)

Jon

Yeah, we don't know how good we have it, until we see places like this. Very sad. Great documentary shot. I might have cropped out just a little more of the foreground, but still you've captured a great daily life shot .. these are the ones that really grab my attention. Great job Derek.

Hi Derek,
Terrific shot of daily life, they seem oblivious that you're even taking a photo. Certainly makes us realize what we have and what we take for granted. A hidden side of the world that only few get to see, so thanks for sharing this.

Scott.

hi derek,
i suppose we are insulated from the harsh realities of life. we take so many things for granted.

this is a totally different shot for you but you have handled it well. i would class this as photo journalism.

maybe more people should visit this sort of area and bring them down to the real world.

well done,
Brian

India is a photographers' paradise Derek... And it's n'owt like Blighty!!

Good street shot - especially as you took it from a moving car!! Lots of interest and colour.

Cheers
David

Its certainly a different world Derek and this photo journalism shot really brings it home.

Peter

Hello Derek!

Great work this one.
This remember me the "favelas" here in Brazil. Sad but true daily life...
The composition is well done.
Good colors, details and POV.

Best regards,
Paulo.

So, you're in India this week, Derek... You get around.
And this looks like a bit of culture shock. I enjoyed the movie 'Slum Dog Millionaire'. We take our lives and living conditions for granted.
Thank you for sharing this part of India with us
Janice

Hallow Derek,
A sad but very realistic photograph depicting the poverty and means of survival. Well captured and very busy BG showing all kinds of accumulated items and you knows for what.Well done, great documentary shot as well.TFS.
