pleasant image but a bit overexposed and central
my tip of the day
SELECTING THE VIEWPOINT
The viewpoint from which you photograph a
subject determines the apparent relationship
between all the objects included in the frame
and of those objects to their surroundings.
The only accurate way to determine the
effectiveness of a particular viewpoint is by
checking its appearance through the
viewfinder. Looking at a scene with the
naked eye, you are aware of a mass of
peripheral information surrounding the area
of interest. The viewfinder, however, shows
the scene with clear-cut edges as it will
appear in the finished photograph.
Look for ways to simplify the picture by
positioning yourself to exclude extraneous
detail, or for unusual ways to present the
subject. While looking through the camera,
try crouching down so that you are lower
than the subject; or try standing on a small
stepladder so that you can look down on it.
Even by simply moving to one side you can
show subject elements in a different way.

Welcome to TL,

for shots like these, I think it is needed to have much more sharpness on the subject (the flower). Also the colors of it do not really come out good : the background should have been darker, you could have done that by steppin only a bit to the left or the right.
Another tip : there are to many flower-shots on TL lately, you can find more interesting things to get more attention on your photos.

regards,

Luc.
update : after reading snaphappy's critique, I see he shares the same idea...

hi Nilanjan

Welcome to TL community. For the 1st post entry of a flower, this is very interesting way to start your sharing of photography here. Because I honestly think you could have done better.

It is good to see that you have resized to 800pixel and below 300kb limit for this photo. But you will understand that it is overexposed and poor focus in sharpness of your subject. Also chosen the wrong placement of the flower in relation to composition, by positioning the flower in a place where the background is very distracting and overexposed too.

You could have written more notes about this photo so that we understand why you shot it this way or any conditions which affected this shot.

The flower is placed too central in position.

If you click here, you will find many good macro work from which you can learn to improve your work.

Hope to see your work again.

tfs, bill
