This image is that of a Hindu Sadhu (Ascetic) who, it is said has left the material lifestyle. He was willing to pose for me :)
He is crippeled in both legs and walks on his hands with those wooden shoes that you see in his hands.
He is a visitor of Ardh-Kumbh Festival of India, where some 6 Million people are axpected. [BBC World News gave those figures]

great portrait :)
greetings

denny

Hello David!

Personnally a superb portrait of this gentleman. Reminds me the books City of Joy. His smile is priceless. Certainly a beautiful moment captured.

About the photo. Nevermind the environment , which you choose to keep for obvious reasons, but you could have changed easily your POV to avoid the poles behind his head, and wait a few seconds to ensure nobody would be behind him.

But I must admit his smile is very eyecatching, and we forget the environment. (^_^)

wow, david. i like this! I like the color of it. it's sharp. I like to blur out the background with a narrow depth of field, but I like that you left it here, so we can see all the interesting people in the background. I like the bit of 'color' that you shared in your text as well. Thank you for sharing this bit of Indian life! karie

Hi David ,
Excellent portrait! Even if he smiled so specially to the photograph, this smile has it beautiful: -) I agree around Robert it was possible to try taking with the clean background it to do, but still is wonderful.
