[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

Hello TrekLens:
This morning I could not miss this capture. I had stopped to buy some bamboo pieces so I could make a ‘Star of David’ for my Christmas light.  The father [image in Workshop] cut up some pieces and gave it to me.
He was then fascinated by my camera and requested a picture. I was struck by the contentment of these little faces; for they were poor, very poor. The little faces were covered with dirt & the cloths were torn & dirty. But yet in those eyes there was joy & contentment.
So I am going to get some prints made for them and give it to them. I will share my joy of Christmas with them by sharing a few with them. I think this is why Jesus came.
It was all shade & I did not wish to use any strobe light. So I increased the ISO to 400, and I wanted the details in the hair area, so my F stop was F/8.
Dedicated to all such children around the world.
Thank you so much for visits, comments & encouragement.
David

Hi
Beautiful portrait...
Great expression...

It's lovely David and a great idea to give some images as a Christmas present - I'm sure it will make them happy - and sharing that is a great feeling.
Thanks
Els

This picture and note really pull my heart strings. I have a little girl in India that I sponsor and this could be her, they look so much alike!! She is SO BEAUTIFUL and such gorgeous eyes. So kind of you to think of them at Christmas, which is WHAT Christmas should be all about! Do you know her name? Thank you for sharing these pictures with us!

Her eyes are magnificent David! And yet so sad! A wonderful shot, amazing detail and color! Really a super shot!

Great capture David, you did an excellent job on this. Sharp, crisp, well cropped and framed, and a breathtaking capture of those expressive eyes.

Yes David!!! you know how to make a portrait:) - it is excellent!
National Geographic never was asking for you?
Brilliant work:)
Regards - Tom

Hi David,
A great idea to give her some pictures! A fine guesture my friend. Regarding the picture it self, a fine pose and those shining eyes are really adorable :-) The face is a bit central though, a bit more enface and out of centre might improve it even more. Nevertheless an oustanding presentation in the wide black frame!

:) Later...

Did you won?

Hi David,
Good story.
Little girl has impressive facial expression and eyecathing eyes. Your framing is very nice also.

A wonderfully expressive shot David. I can feel the emotion here. Well done - Vincent

Hi dear friend,
another amazing story along a perfect shot... The story is so sad... but, like you said in the note, it's a really joy to see the contentment in her little eyes. I think that because they don't have knowledge about luxury they can't be sad for don't having it. They have other principles in life. All my respect and best wishes for this family. You are so right about sharing with them the Christmas joy. You are a great person with a big heart.
Best wishes to you and your family.
Ioana

Hello David,
A very sensitive capture of those precious brown eyes, so pure and unassuming . . .
As for your workshop post, my initial reaction is to bemoan the fact that I have let my body become so "deformed" that I can no longer sit like that! I hear a "wake-up call" . . .
Back to your image, thanks for sharing,
Karen

Hello David !

Certainly not a very glamourous shot here. But what a sweet expression captured. Despite the poverty , she obviously was very proud to be your model. A vibrant tribute.

It is difficult to imagine how people can be dirty today wuiith all the facilities available. But we forget ourselves , too often, running water or even a source of water is almost a luxury in many places all around the world.

Thanks for this great post .
Season's Greetings ,
Robert

Hi David.
Beautifull i like this more than animals at a picture. Great work en well done.
regards Frans

Hello David,
A classic street/poverty portrait, but a strong one and certainly not easy to carry out, I think. You must indeed get the confidence of your "model" and you obviously got it. I like the way she looks at the lens without seeing it actually. She looks "through" it and seems to adress directly to us, the viewers of your photo.
That's why I would not have chosen "Innocence" for the title. She is innocent regarding to her situation, of course. But she does not look innocent in the other sense of the word. On the contrary, in spite of her young age, she looks really conscient. Conscient about her situation, her life, about you taking this photo, etc. I would like to suggest another title, but unfortunately, I cannot think of one yet (later, perhaps).
Nice natural colours and interesting thick frame.
TFS & kind regards,
Erik
