[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
i was visiting my friends in delhi. and we had initially arranged for a trip to shimla, a nearby hill station. but it started showering heavy on the day we were supposed to leave and we couldn't even make it to the train station. left disappointed, we planned for a day-long trip to agra and fatehpur sikri.. we ended up spending so much time in agra, that we had to extend our trip..we decided to spend the night at fatehpur sikri, a beautiful small town, calm and quiet..you take a walk through the bazaar, the smell of freshly cooked food (you should try ‘lassi’..it’s essentially same as milk-shake but believe much better, served in clay cups, heavenly :-).. the sweets are worth trying as well), people wandering through in a fine chaotic harmony, you’d love the stillness that surrounds it all.

it was about 8.30 or 9 in the evening, we thought of walking up to the Buland Darwaza, the highest gateway in the world (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buland_Darwaza)..the courtyard, although is closed to the tourists after the sunset, a local boy helped us to make a backdoor entry..and it was worth it..the night was dark and the silence was deafening.. halogen light reflected on the white marbles of Salim Chisti’s tomb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomb_of_Salim_Chisti) created this heavenly blue aura around it..we heard a few chants, probably verses from the holy Quran..time rushed by, and we had to come down, we didn’t want to but had to..it was an unforgettable experience..

for this one, this was taken during early morning, probably the best time to shoot..barely any tourists..i was plain lucky here..i realize the composition could’ve been better, the head overlapping with the structure might be a bit disturbing..i would probably give it another go :-)

hello Mayur
how are you doing?
you have captured a nice mood here. an artistic touch to the shot but i feel the composition could have been vetter, the man (subject) could have been in thirds and the foreground could have been shorter than the head room.
i liked your approach to the subject, good conversions and nice pp work to the sky

Hello Mayur,

What Manuj says in his critique is correct.
However, because there is symmetry in your shot, a crop from the top would still place him quite well.
I like the drama of your shot and the lovely textures of the wet pavement.

Hi Mayur,
Interesting composition with very appropriate B&W format for this subject. I like the empty foreground but feel that there is too much black on the left edge of the photo. Also I think you used too much sharpening? You can see the sharpening halo around the man and on the edges of the wall in the background and the sky is noisy. Still a good effort.

I think I would have cropped this square and zoomed in more just because the left and right doesn't offer anything to the image, however the image embraces solitude in my opinion and the moody BW works well.

I like your approach with the light. I agree with manujmehta, the subject could have been in thirds, so the left wall would not take that much place in the compo.
