| This "coolie", carried one bag from the front of a parked bus to inside. I gave him 20 rupees. I had asked for the bags to be on the roof, but he refused. Usually, the price is 5 rupees to carry up onto the roof. He and the man who carried my other bag, (20 rupees each), threw my money at me, demanded first 200, then 100 rupees each. The government bus driver was in a hurry, so they had no choice, had to leave, taking the 20 rupees each. Traveling in India now is a nightmare most of the time. The people have learned they can get these outlandish amounts by harassment, and threats from many people. The bus conductor and driver also wanted extra money, they took the entire filled bus to the police station, "to put me in jail", for refusing to pay a 16 rupees charge, above everyone else's fare.
