SCANNED SLIDE
As I have mentioned before, I am not taking any pictures lately and thus going into my reserve of old photos. So , here I have one old one, taken on the streets of Chadipur, a coastal town in the stae of Orissa, India.
I was taking a tea break on a street side tea-stall when I saw this God's creature, taking a nap on the road. All the cars, pedestrians were going around it. It is a common site in India. Some people wonder how come they have so many cows roaming the streets in India!
Here is an explanation. Religious Hindu people believe that if they take a small calf(male) and let it release in the name of god (with all religious pomps and granduer) their own problems will be taken care of. These cows known as "Dharma's Cows" are untouchables and thus roam the streets and grow up on the streets untouched and become a fixture on certain areas. these animals are very docile (mostly)and live off the people and land.

Excellent POV for this portrait, my friend but I don't like the colours and the noise but these came (I think)from the scanning of the old photo.

thanks and have a great day,

Hi Pranab,
Seems like we have Animal Day... I just commented on Gazza's camel!
This one is more peaceful and familiar...
Interesting capture, where you go quite close to bring us a fine portrait!
Good colours, maybe a tad soft but scans are difficult to control...
Greetings,
Pablo -

HOLY COW, this is up close and personal...lol! She even looks like she is smiling for your camera. Great capture, thanks for sharing,
Fran

Hi Pranab,
Holy Cow = An exclamation of surprise.
It always surprises me that we can see that the photo is analogue and scanned.
This one is a little red and magenta. In the cork shop of ´ vlad vh´ we see how good the photo actual is. The PoV is good. Like the story you give us and like to learn a bit more.
I looked it up as well and found this:

In Hinduism, the cow is considered sacred and its protection is a recurrent theme in which she is symbolic of abundance, of the sanctity of all life and of the earth that gives much while asking nothing in return. Most Hindus respect the cow as a matriarchal figure for her gentle qualities and providing nurturing milk and its products for a largely vegetarian diet

India is a country I want to visit one day. People say that things are changing very fast there and it may be that soon some traditions will be lost.
It's nice to see your holy cow here Pranab. Thanks for the note that splains the fact of the holy cows in India.
Regards.

Hi Pranab!
Your photographical and verbal story of the Holy Cows is very interesting. I find your scan very good - do you scan by yourself or in a photo-pavillion?
Regards!
Anton

Nice animal portrait, but not a very good scan...

I love holy cows! I love all th elife on the streets in India. I feel like I live all alone in America, streets are empty of pedestrians, and animals, only cars, few flowers here, little life outside.
