[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in the town of Deshnoke in Rajasthan. Deshnoke is most famous for it's 17th century temple known locally as 'Karni Mata Mandir' but better known by tourists as 'The Rat Temple'.

The temple is teeming with hundreds and hundreds of these mangy, scruffy creatures which are believed to be the reincarnations of holy men. Thus, they are not only tolerated in the temple but fed, watered and revered.

As in all temples in India, you have to remove your footwear before you enter, something I normally don't think twice about. In this temple though, the floors don't exactly look like an enticing surface to put one's bare skin! The smell too is quite foul.

Still, you'll be pleased to hear I braved the rats and the smell to bring you this photo. I hope you think it's worth it 'cause I'm not going in again!

Regards,

Rich

Rich, quite the shot and kudos on braving the well-fed vermine!
I like the POV and the colours. The rat in the back looks kind of spooky and adds to the composition.
