[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just passing by our local coffee shop where all of our college friends used to meet, share secret admirations, chat about the upcoming town events, pour out against the teachers (whom we miss sometimes now), fret about the future, the job, the life and puff it all on credit and tell the shopkeeper someone else's account number to write the "amount of the day" into and finally hug and say "don't be early to college tomorrow"...all this and now sitting in the 6X6 cubicle working and feeling what all is no more to come. This drop, from the shop's outer wash-basin which served as our dressing-stop after college, makes me recall all that and more...it resembles a tear so much that nothing else could come into my mind!

Anyways for the title, I liked the viscosity in this shot taken at a shutter speed of 1/501 sec. so the name which actually means a sugar-rich sticky substance, secreted by aphids and some scale insects as they feed on plant sap. When their mouthpart penetrates the phloem, the sugary, high-pressure liquid is forced out of the gut's terminal opening.

Honeydew is collected by certain species of wasp, and also honey bees, which process it into a dark, strong honey (honeydew honey). This is highly prized in parts of Europe and Asia for its reputed medicinal value.

Ants may even collect, or 'milk' honeydew directly from aphids, which benefit from their presence due to their ability to drive away predators such as lady beetles. Honeydew can cause sooty mold on many ornamental plants, a bane of gardeners.

Cheers!

Hi Prasan
Excellent presentation with a very good perspective and composition on the water droplet. The pp work is also excellent. The image could be a little sharper but again I'm a sharpness fanatic.

Paul

Beautiful capture. Good POV and amazing timing. I know how difficult it is to capture this event. :)
Good job.

Hi Prasan,
this looks good - though perhaps the original image could have been posted (ie showing the subject without the 'greyed-out' area from your PP)
But that may be a personal nit-pick on my part..

Well done and best regards, Daniel.
