Besides the beautiful temples and places to see, the more common scene for a tourist in Delhi is a group of people desperately trying to sell you something. Whatever it may be.

This group of youngsters refused to leave the window of our car until the traffic light turned green and the car had to leave. And this is usually the case.
In the end I bought a book from one of them (who isn't in the picture, because everytime I'd point the camera at them he'd hide), which turned out to be really difficult to read since it was a xerox copy and a lot of pages were basically unreadable :)

What I found encouraging about them was that besides their state of poverty, desperate need and determination to sell something at whatever price, they found time to smile! Although some smiled only after they realized why my camera was pointing at them, while others hid because of it.

In any case, they made my day! And who knows what made their day...

Hi Nuné,
This scene is familiar to me as I was faced to exactly same situations in Dakar, people with the same will (and need) to sell sthg at any price and with a smile ...
Nicely captured ! Good composition.

vaibhav,

Hello Nune,

I spent 1 year in India (I was a student at Delhi University so I know Delhi quite well) and this photo mean a lot to me... :)
Very good (and real!) 'street' shot :)
Good note. Hope you fell in love with this country:) I did:)
Best,
Iza

Great daily life scene Nune, i can understand their economic deprivation very well, how they manage to survive on a few rupees a day yet keeping a smile on their face will always astonish me , you capture the essence of India in this through the car window shot, tfs,
Carol
