Forgotten

I have forgotten the sweet words
As bitter venom drips from my lips

I have forgotten the beautiful sunset
As darkness glazes over my eyes

I have forgotten the sounds of laughter
As screams of hate fill my ears

I have forgotten the scent of rain
As fumes of pain fill my lungs

I have forgotten the feeling of love
As despair fills my body and I fall over the edge

I have forgotten contentment
As nothing do i have to spend

I have forgotten the surrounding society
As the world in turn has forgotten me.....

Mandi Ducroq & Nishant David

Hello Friends this is a downtrodden daily wage labourer who hails from a village called mahua in Uttar Pradesh, India. His farmland stopped producing crops and turned barren and he had no alternate but to come to the city and work as a daily wage labourer to stay alive. He woorks in Delhi at present with his wife and son and hopes for two square meals a day. His son was photographed by me and is displayed in my profile titled "In The Land Of Childhood". He and many like him are truly forgotten by our society. They work hard and survive.....No work and they are swept into oblivion.......

Hi Nishant,
Wonderful portrait of this downtrodden man with such pleasant expresseive eyes that still have hope in them. Very somber poem to go with this stark image.
Regards, Tom

Hi Nishant,
This kind of story is also happening from where I come from, Philippines. Seems to me there is too much disparity of wealth distribution in this world. Wonderfully captured portrait and well presented. Well composed! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Great portrait of a gentleman. Well done Nishant. The same problem to almost all third world countries I think.
