[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
India dear friends has a huge market for rotten fruits.
Amazed?
But its true. With over half its population living under the poverty line rotten fruits are also lapped up and consumed regularly by the ultra poor.

Fruit vendors sell their best fruits in the mornings from 8am onwards.At this time the rate is relatively high . Lets say Rs.25 for a kilo of oranges. This Price gradually starts decreasing as the day passes by and the best fruits are sold and gone. Finally after 10 pm only the discarded and rotten fruits are left. This is sold at throwaway price of Rs 2 to Rs 5 a kilo. This fruit which is fit to be thrown away is sold within no time...bought by poor people who manage to earn as less as Rs.5 to Rs.20 per day only.Lot of people come into this category namely beggars, rikshawpullers, ragpickers, smalltime labourers and daily wagers.
This is sad but True...

Sad that their are people so poor that they have to eat rotten fruit.

Yes, this is sad. Good message though Nishant. I would hope that it is given away at teh end of the night.
We have some shops here that at 5 pm every day specific people come and pick up the unsold bread and they hand it out to different people and charities. The supermarkets don't do this :(

they don't look rotten to me, Nishant.. we called it limau manis here.. this is my mom's fav.

probably this lots the sour one.. but this not for poor one here.. like by everyone.. :) sad to know that in India it is a different story..

The different colours of the oranges are appealing, and the fruit is captured with fine details...
A pleasant composition, I'm not so sure about the red frame but that is a matter of taste!

Don't be sorry for reminding us how fortunate we are that we are the lucky ones - the ones with sufficient education and the other attributes to be able to earn sufficient to purchase the good fruit at the beginning of the day. Sometimes we need these reminders that all is not well with the world.

Your notes indicate a sense of feeling for the poor of your country David. I can't help but wonder if all the money spent on that super cricket league may have been better spent on the welfare of the people. Good deep colour which seems to symbolise the despair. TFS,

Here in Pakistan we also have the same strategy With over half its population living under the poverty line rotten fruits are also lapped up and consumed regularly by the ultra poor.
