If there is a stage at which an individual life becomes truly adult, it must be when one grasps the irony in its unfolding and accepts responsibility for a life lived in the midst of such paradox.

One must live in the middle of contradiction, because if all contradiction were eliminated at once life would collapse. There are simply no answers to some of the great pressing questions. You continue to live them out, making your life a worthy expression of leaning into the light.

"This man is from the streets of Delhi, he had a BIDI (local cigarette) in his hand and when he saw me clicking him, he hid that inside his hand and gave me this quizzical look.
Tell you a funny thing, the wall behind this man is not textured as it looks. People of old delhi love to chew "Paan" and a bad habit to spit on the walls. these are the marks of the same... ;-)

captured in RAW, converted in black and white and resized for TL."

always a beautiful portrait with wise words

Hi Manuj,
Another fabulous portrait - this time of a pensive man!
A great expression in his face burdened with responsabiities, as philosophically described well in your note.
Excellent lighting and sharpness and adequately interpreted in B&W.
Wonderful work.
Best regards,

Francis Xavier

Hi Manuj,
I hope you are doing fine, my friend! Again a very well captured, expressive face from the society of India, I like how you can capture the expressions of certain people's faces. Technically correct as always with fine black and white tones. TFS!

Hello Manju,
yes, your photo of the man tells a lot of unsaid stories. You are a terrific story teller (through this pic) and a fantastic note writer.
Thank you so much.
Warm regards,
abhijit.

Hi Manuj

A superb b&w portrait, with a marvellous tonal range, excellent sharpness, & good use of a shallow dof. Tfs!

Hello Manuj,

yes, I can definitely see the 'questions' in his look...deep melancholy in the eyes as well. I really like the way you master the contrasts and the B/W tones for your portrait shots.

You have a special stlye, I hope you realize that.

Hi Manuj... hope you are fine..

contradiction and paradoxes 2 words that seem to exist for many reasons, if we think about it everything in this world has a double meaning, or an opposit and opposits attract something maybe right or wrong it depends on what! great portrait and superb focus and impeccable sharpness, that frown looks pretty intense...B/W is always a good choice for such powerful portraits, that's my opinion.. i simply say this is an excellent work..

good day and regards Manuj

hi Manuj,
this series of portraits of yours is truly intriguing, especially since I am still here and I can find many similar faces around me every day and interpreting them (or simply "recording" them) is not as easy as it might seem.
questions... your approach is very philosophical =)
it's true that some questions will always remain unanswered. accepting this fact is less easy than we would like it to be.
I guess in a way we want to see some things progressing in our lives, and when that doesn't happen, we feel cheated upon.
maybe the hardest thing to accept is that life doesn't owe us anything.
great eye-contact and effective b/w conversion.

dear Manuj mehta,
a photo always includes some paradoxes...
also ambivalence too.
because there are two lives, the object and the photographer.
and the watcher too.
in this portrait shot, his expression obviously over your understanding capacity, but your camera can receipt it...
also our capacity, but our eyes too...
real severe face and performed superficial face are doubled to one, but that is actually interesting for watcher us.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Manuj...great shot..you have incredible tones and details in all your shots...congratulations...how are you doing your conversions to black and white?

Hi Manuj,

Hey Manuj,

I don't know how I've missed your work before. I was just peeking through your library and am amazed at what I saw. You have some stellar work in there.

This shot is easily up to the high standards you have set for yourself. I love this gentleman's expression and your back-story adds to his character.

Though somewhat gross, the background here works really well. It has just enough texture to be interesting, but not enough to really detract from the subject.

Great work all around.

Thanks,
skot

Hi Manuj,
