[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I wonder how to take sunset picture with details both on the sky and the front subjects like that house on this Sunset Harmony? Because, if the camera points to the bright sunlight, that house turns out almost silhouette. However, if it points to the house, I get fine exposure on the house, but lose the warm sunset effect.

Okay, here I did a bit “cheating” ;)
I took it in raw format by pointed the camera to the sunset. As I mentioned above, the house turns out black. To bring out its details, I increased the brightness.
In photoshop, I combined two jpeg format files, with and without brightness adjustment, by layer masking.

I really was amazed by the sunset effect that could harmonize the warm and cool colours.
Oh, I also did tone adjustments to emphasize the contrast between the warm and cool colours. Would love to know what you think :)

You might call it "cheating," I consider it the sign of a good photographer.

Post processing to bring out the potential of a photograph is rather like a chef adding spices, herbs, salt, pepper and sauce to bring out the true flavours of food. Enhancement is a skill - celebrate it!

You have created a fantastic photograph, rich in colours and detail, with excellent composition and balance - very well done!!

This is exceptionally good. Love the way you have captured the orange clouds against the deep blue sky. A simple composition but one with a strong impact due to the magnificent colours.

O yes!!! this is a sunset shot. Definitely one of the greatest I seen. Very "juicy" colours, interesting and splendid POV as well as composition.

Hi Ratna, in such an extreme condition that's the time to play with spot metering. As you know our camera can not see what our eyes can see, so it tends to brighten if you meter to the darker area and it tends to darken if you metering the light to the brighter area. By using spot metering you have more control, what you need to do is just make EV compensation, if it is bright you set +EV and if it is dark you set to -EV, the value either +0.3, +0.7 or -0.3 or -1.0 is really based on your experience, the more you use it the more you know how to compensate the EV.

Comment on your photo above, I think you have done a splendid post processing, that has not only bring back all the details but has given another touch to it.

Nice color and compo combination. The golden yellow color as combined with the blue sky telling the viewer of the bright and beautiful sunset. The lower angle with the perspective succeed to produce a different attractive angle.
