[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Lawang Sewu means a thousand doors. I think this building suit it's name. Was used as an office on colonialism era when Dutch stil ruled in Indonesia.

It's a 4 stories building where the basement filled with water to cool up the room upside. There are two main Hall in each flor and those halls consist of room that was connected with doors. Not really a thousand but a lot.

I took this picture when I have office assignment to Semarang, the capital of central java. I took a day off from office and went to this place.

For lots of people they believe that this unoccupied building now filled with spirits. Because when Japanese ruled in Indonesia, the basement floor used for prison and lots of people died.

Therefore lots of people came to this place after sun has set. Some of them trying to see if there is really ghost in there, some just trying to overcome or trying themself if they are brave enough. Some even looking for magic.

No matter what the people reason to visit this place, it is really a pity to see such a beautiful building wasting to nothing because locak gov didn't take care of it.

Very interesting place Yan, and interesting note. It's a beautiful building.
Love the blue tones throughout .. and the red roof domes and the orange van really add a great contrasting pop of color to the shot.
Great shot!

The infared filted has certainly added visual drama to this interesting shot. I cannot explain why but I feel the orange van is essential to the success of this shot. Well done.

WOW IR is awesome, really surreal effect! I bought an IR filter for the front of my camera. Thought I might try it out! Good job on this, excellent details and processing! Can you tell me what F stop and how long your exposure was? I have no idea how to adjust for an IR filter! Thanks!

Hello Yan!

Spectacular thumbnail and overhaul a very interesting shot and subject you posted here. Well done.

The use of the filter is providing a cool effect. I wonder how the sky is still blue.

Robert

Such a striking, eyecatching shot Yan! I love it. The use of IR filter gives this a very unique feeling, the strong colours - the beautifully controlled dynamics.
Nice balance of symmetry in the frame.
