[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Singsari temple, located about 15 km north of Malang town of East Java province, is a 14th century Hindu temple.
This temple is the homage of Kertanegara, the last king of Singosari dysnasty.
The temple, unlike anyother temples in Java, is in the design of "world" based on Hindu cosmology concept.
The temple symbolizes as the towring "Meru" mountain as the center universe. The terrace to uphold the (original) temple symbolizes the last continent and the yard around the temple just simply reveals the ocean.

The king, Kertanegara, claimed to be the mighty ruler of the world. Kubhilai Khan, king of Mongol of the same period, could not conquer him. The Mongol troops whom had sent to punish him had to returned back for nothing.

For Indonesian history, the King is the inspirator of Indonesian modern nowadays in politic and cultural systems.

Hi Irsam, this is a wonderful picture. Nicely composed with amazing colours. The note is very interesting. This temple is similar to some of the Cham tower we can find in Vietnam. Their origins are also related to hinduism with some indonesian influences. Congrats,
