Snapped this wee fella when I was in Bali a couple of months ago. He was just sitting on the wall surrounding the temple, looking all wise, all knowing. He was probably just watching for something to grab from an unsuspecting tourist, the thieving little blighter - but still, he looked wise.

Taken at the same temple as this other monkey snap.

Nothing much else to say, it's a snap of a monkey on a wall. He's either a thief in waiting or a wise wee chappie, take your pick ;-)

Shot in RAW, w/b adjusted, cropped, resized, sharpened.

Hiya Richard,

he is certainly going to steal the show in the TL gallery! Stunning shot, superb sharpness and perfect DOF. Those eyes remind me of the mona lisa they follow you constantly.

Lovely post my friend

TFS regards Helen

You know I am a huge fan of your animal shots, Richard and this is no exception. Perfect DOF, interesting pose and facial expression. I carefully watch your camera setting, so one day I might get images like this. I still think National Geographic should pay you. Excellent.
Warm Regards
Wanda

Excellent DOF and focus and what a great moment you capture this with it's tail like that. Wish you will tone down that little hot furs on it's hand, and give a little highlight to the eyes :)

Hello Richard!
Very very nice capture and perfect detail and clarity!
I like the blur background!
Beautiful colours and good light!
Best regards!
Lili

Mmmm...going in monkey busines Richard? Like the natural background, the expression of the monkey is priceless. The position of it makes it a well balanced picture.
In spite of your equipment handicap, a fine photo :-)
Hans

Superb portrait of this monkey Richard.
Great bokeh quality and color.
Love the way the tail lays towards the right of the frame,
Great framing and placement.
Well done.

Hi Richard, Good well araanged and cropped composition. Amusing notes, i heard they take glasses and caps etc off unsuspecting visitors. He has a serious attitude on that small face. The clarity is ideal. TFS. Murray.

wow cool shot, nice bokeh, sharp shot very well focus...

He looks like he's trying to figure you out! Cute expression. The workshop as well is very good. Nice lighting. Kind of a homely little critter :) TFS

hehehe....what a stare, pal!

a very lovely placing of the tail.....so naturally laid on the plank/bar.

reading his mind, i think he wants to try your gear to take a shot....:)

great clarity/sharpness on the hair/fur. excellently cropped. well done, pal.

He looks like Yoda! Very nice shot, off center for this is perfect, facing into the frame! Nice and sharp...they almost look human....hmmmm
B-)

Oooow... poor little fella - what did you do to him, Richard? He look really upset with his expression. I think he didn't like what you called him, a thief. You downgraded him - He is a professional snatcher, and that make him really upset. (Opss... what am I talking about...) Well, really... the expression and eye contact was the real big thing in this photo - to me.
...I think he is hiding something underneath. :)

Very nice and clear shot.
Regards,
Ramdan.

What a cutie!! Very sharp details and nice colours. Great composition and the tail along the wall gives it (next to the monkeys expression :-)) an extra funny character.
Very well done!

TFS Greetings Simone

He's a tea leaf - I can see it in his eyes !
Beautifuly shot, lovely composition and colours
Regards Pez

Hi Richard,
Great shot and composition, he looks like the plan is to steal the 5D LOL, the DOF is good as is the sharpness, the only thing for me is the wall drops off to the right slightly so maybe a degree or so anticlockwise would have helped in the PP.
Well done
Regards Andy

I like composition with his tail horizontal along the wall. Great eye contact. Great DoF to provide contrast with the wee blighter.

Hi Richard
A very intense look, probably wondering what mischief he could do. Love his punk haircut, and the way he displayed his tail on the wall. Maybe he was looking for someone to adopt him. He needs a name.
Great shot and

hello richard,

there is a lot to like about the subject here :) no doubts there :)

the exposure is also very good, close to immaculate :) but the thing is, i think the monkey is too cornered here, or in other words, a bit too close to the left edge of the frame...

since you mention cropping it, i dont know what the original looks like, but i am sure the photo will look better if you re-crop and this time, place the monkey a little further away from the left edge :)

another minor thing i noticed is the slightly angled surface on which the monkey's sitting... with post processing, you can straighten the photo a little bit... but thats a minor point i'm bringing up :)

just my humble 2 cents :)

thanks for sharing :) have a great day :)

Hi Richard,
fun expression,
well done,

armel.

Hi Richard
I have friends who resemble this guy. Perfect placement in the frame. Spot on clarity and complimentary BG.

Dan

Looked wise, maybe, but certainly smart! Did you check if your wallet was still there, lol? He might have had an accomplice, keeping you busy snapping his picture .....
Cheers
Otto

Ahhhh. You overlooked the lichen! It's that junk growing on the concrete..but I hear it is something which cures! Seriously! Wow..

Hello Richard,
I prefer to think the thieving part versus the all knowing approach, that's less threatening. ;0)
Nice capture and presentation.
Very enjoyable shot.
Thanks for sharing,
Wilt

Excellent shot Richard. Great pose and beautiful bokeh from that 70-200. Love the compo too, nice work!
