The town of Bone (pronouneced 'boh_nay') is famous for its' firewalkers. Taken with a 300 mm zoom lens. I had to jump backwards, as some of the sparks landed at my feet.

"Most fascinating, we witnessed a “fire dance” in which the dancers, deep in trance, trod back and forth on live, searing coals made from coconut husks and shells. Their faces showed no trace of pain or discomfort. An inspection of the soles after the dance revealed no blisters, burns or scars! A haunting testimony of faith and power of the mind."

Very impressive image of a tradition that is very extraordinary. The composition is great and the colors and details are fantastic. The viewer can clearly see the sparks, smoke and coals, as well as all the other interesting details of the image.

I have seen firewalkers sevveral times. Once in Bikaner, India, another time in Sri Lanka, and othre places. They never seem to suffer at all, I used to think it was a trick, but now I have seen it up close.... and believe!

Gee you were on fire to catch that one! Very impressive and i like that animal he ryding on! Horse of mythologie probably?

Hi Chris,
Very interesting photo. I have seen many firewalking festivals in Sri Lanka and never had a camera with me at any of those occations! So you are showing something that I had always wanted to capture but never was fortunate enough.

Beautiful image, Chris. I like the details you've captured, especially the sparks. I also like the smoke. Anyway, don't try this at home ;o). TFS.

WOW!
Great composition with vivid colours and detail. It's amazing how these people walk on fire, nails or glass and they don't hurt themselves.
Well done :)

A very impressive picture Chris, I like it a lot. Must be hot for the under of the feet.
Best regards
Guy
