Knotty Ride :)
Going to Batam and Bintan islands of Indonesia, I traveled aboard the Asean Raider from Harbor Front in Singapore to Batam island. Using an average trek camera, this pic was taken moments after I left the Batam island. Shot in low POV and focused at the middle of the knotty ropes. The lines are a bit curving and not in line w/ the borders, affected by the lens distortion. I did some experimenting by tweaking the Shadow/Highlight and Selective Color to mimic a famous effect here in TL.

Composition:
Model: Canon PowerShot A640
Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3
Exposure Time: 1/1002
F-Stop: f/4.0
Focal Length: 7300/1000 mm
Metering Mode: Pattern

Pp work:
1. crop
2. tweak Shadow/Highlight and Selective Color for an effect, popular in TL
3. add border w/ shadow, using Canvass Size
4. sharpen and resize

Quote of the Day:
"I wish more people felt that photography was an adventure the same as life itself and felt that their individual feelings were worth expressing. To me, that makes photography more exciting." -Harry Callahan

Well done, Freddie! The POV towards the sky with the red ring, the even redder light and the grey rope being in the FG makes this image attractive to me. The PP work is effective. Well done and TFS! Cordelia :)))

Hello Fred,
It is unbeleivable sharp at any distance.
I like this capture a lot.
Thanks
Ugur

Hi Fred,
Really like the VERY low POV here, I am very fond of nautical photos and this is a very good one. I like the lines with the "sailors knots" and the view of the harbor...very nice. TFS
Donna:o)

A theme that I affectionate a lot (^_^)

Creative Post processing , more a drawing épainting than a photo with this heavy post processing creating haolos around the stee works. ( shadows highlights ? ).

Nevertheless, I love the bold contrasts and tones of the ropes. Well seen and processed.
Robert

That would be my POV if I were on a boat for a while...lol. Love the pp work and effect, and of course the reds really add visual energy. Excellent!

Great composition. I like the contrast you have created between the ropes and rails against the sea. Which function exactly do you use to get that halo effect. TFS. Karin
