[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Driving up to Mount Batur and Mount Abang in the Central-North of Bali, we stopped to have a short sanitary break and stretch our legs.

Walking through the ricefields, I saw this man planting rice in one of the fields. I passed by to just wish him a good day - proud of the little Indonesian I learned over the past 10 months in Sumatra. And the issue with saying someting to someone in Indonesia is that they will say something back - and quite often start a whole story, thinking you're fluent in Bahasa Indonesia...

He was explaining about his rice and his house. He was surely proud about it, but I only understood half of it. I guess he noticed it and after that he thought a long time over every sentence to explain it to me in a simple way. It did not really help that much, but it resulted in a thoughtful gaze in this picture :-).

I already started a Bali travelogue on TrekEarth, but I also want to share some (different!) pictures on TrekLens - though sometimes from a same burst of shots.

Really perfect clarity and razor sharp details. I'm surprised this has no critiques yet! Very well done with the off-centering and crop just off the shoulder. Fantastic colors as well.
Thanks for sharing the note also!
Have a good day.

You too are a thoughtful man for learning a little Bahasi Indonesia. Great thoughful gaze captured. TFS. K2

Hi Dennis,
Very good colors and DOF.
I don't think this is a thoughtful gaze .... I think he is irritated that you are able to read the user-manual of your camera, but aren't able to talk with him. ;-)
greetings,
Joop!

Hallo Dennis.
Superb portrait of this man, with the blurred background.
You sure have the right tools to do so. Perfect.

Beau portrait. Rien de tel qu'un visage marqué par le temps. Le fonds est coloré, ca contraste bien avec le teint mat du personnage.

Hi Dennis,
Very beautiful portrait.Good sharp, colours and details.TFS.
Regards.

Hey Dennis,

First thing I noticed here was the hazy colour of his eyes, and the stains on his shirt... but really first thing, was really his super overt eyebrows! There's so much detail to examine in this image... the difference in wrinkle/texture on his face... the little moles (probably resulting from the rich weather over there) on his face, and the beautiful surroundings (which are by the way nicely blurred) he is faced with. I can truly feel the sun blazing on top of my head.

TFS Dennis,

Biance.

he looks to be thinking "here's looking at you man"

Wooooow
beautiful portrait...
Great expression...
Nice light...

Hoi Dennis,
