This version of Kiwi was a product of market research.

Asian buyers were asked what they didn't like about the traditional green kiwi. Its sourness, its hairy skin, its colour and the number of seeds were all answers given. So a sweeter, smoother, golden, less-seedy version was bred and is now marketed. And customers prefer it.

Indeed Tjutjut, I only buy a handful of kiwi's when the have the golden variëty!

A wonderful macro - I have tried a few times, so I know it is difficult because of the moist surface. I think I have to turn it so the light does not fall on the kiwi next time.

Wow! Juicy. It is incredible how that fruit looks so close. I like this photo a lot, but I wonder how would it be on a dark background, because it is said that "yellow is radiantly cheerful when contrasted with dark tones".

Kia ora Tjutjut - yes this is a newer type of KiwiFruit. I prefer these yellow ones - as you say they are sweeter. I have never liked the green kiwifruit, but I will buy these ones. We can get them around $2 a kilo in the growing season.
