This is the famous A-bomb Dome in Hiroshima.
Hiroshima is not a fun town to visit, and if you come to japan visiting Hiroshima may be the most gray day you will have. when i visited hiroshima on newyears day, it was a cloudy cold gray day which suited the place perfectly. Hiroshima is a place of dark reflection and a Horrific past that in no way can be quiped at. The A-bomb dome was one of, if not the only standing building for miles around after the detonation. It was directly under the hypercentre.
now Hiroshima is a place of peace, but also when i was there i (even though i am scottish) felt resentment (gaijin = foreigner) and a lot of japanese people call people who are not japanese Gaijin and group western people all the same. so dont go there with the idea of being merry and having a laugh.

Suitably sombre, composition and subject matter that matches the mood of the city - although I do feel that complete desaturation would be even more appropriate.
