My simple dining room in Miyajima, an island off the coast of Hiroshima, which is on Honshu Island. The hotel was expensive (12,000 yen) but included this sumptious meal, the best I had in my whole 9 days in Japan.

Yes, you captured it perfectly. I stayed at a very similar ryokan in Kyoto too. I bet there was a selection of X-rated movies neatly stacked in the TV stand :-)

cheers,
Cristian

What a lot of space... I've never been to Japan, but have read that space is very expensive... which would account for the price, Chris ;o). A nice graphical image. I love those soft colours, very tranquil.
I think you downsized a bit too "rude" though... the jpeg compression rendered quite a few jaggies.
Anyway, never mind that. TFS

Hello Chris,

I see that these 9 days of Japan were wonderful, in spite of a little salty in the prices, but I see that it was worth the trip.
Beautiful room, big visual!
Congratulations

Hi Chris. Excellent POV to maximise the details in this very tidy room. Those seats on the floor look nice, but i don't like to sit on the flat for too long, not flexible these days. Superb capture of what is so very Japanese. Your photos are insightful. Murray.

Hi Chris,
I like this one. Clean, neat and pretty warm color.

Wow, How clear and simply room.

HI CHRIS.

How are you?
First, I need to thank you, because you share
such an intimate picture!
The room is indeed very beautiful, it seems to be a very quiet and peaceful place.
Then, I must confess you took the picture just perfectly, because you manage to increase the beauty of every single detail.
Finally, I have to add: the lightning is exeptional.

Congratulations.

Hello Chris!

Sorry for my long absence. I am slowly visiting my old buddies after a few weeks away. I have to catch up a lot since I missed to many great work by this growing family of photo enthousiasts.

Since I am a kid , I always loved Japanese design and deco. I remember very well my first contact at the Japanese Pavillon of
Expo 67 in Montreal. I was only 9 years old but I liked a lot the simplicity and design of the Dining room .

My only problem with this is it must me hard for the knees and back after a while (^_^) . I found cool the 1967 version, more friendly with our culture .

Thanks for the memories brougth back to me.

Neat room and photo!
Cheers!
Robert

HI Chris,
I only know such dining-rooms form shots or the TV, can it realy be comfortable to sit there on the ground? I can't beleave.
An you have to be careful with the walls, right? I like this shot, a wonderful place, thanks

The photo is perfect. I have nothing to add !
For the room, and for that price, they can replace the TV box byy a huge plasma, and the phone by a cordless one.
And of course, a Geisha :-)

Tidy, nice room, with a pleasant light. Japanese simplicity and elegance. The TV set is a little bit disturbing and I think it doesn't belong here.
Thank you,

Boy this really brings me back, Chris. This could be almost any Japanese-style hotel or rokan in the country. But this is well recorded. I didn't think to snap one of these, and I've spent at least 10 nights in them.
Mike

Nice picture of a beautiful room ... and a good meal!
