| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [Japanese] |
Here is Hannya-ji(Hannya temple) apart north a bit from central Nara city, and this temple is composed from entrance gate, main temple, pagoda tower and many buddha of stone, though it's small scale.
Especially, the stone image burnt into my eyes, those faces seemed to be reposeful and to be merciful, and the field of yellow colour in stone image was so mysterious for me.
And then the daffodil flower favored the stone image.
I took these picture at the afternoon in the sunny day.
(Remarks)
- Flower calendar
-- daffodil (December - February)
-- Japanese yellow rose (April)
-- Hydrangea (June)
-- Cosmos (September - October)
(P.S)
It is said that Priest Ekan from Kokuri(Korea) built it in 629 and put Monju Bosatsu-zo (or image of wisdom and intellect Bodhisattva) in this temple, and it is also said that in 735, Period of the Emperor Shomu, it's hall pagoda was built to protect from unfavourable directions of Heijo Palace. After a fire in this temple by war, it was rebuilt again in the Kamakura Period(the 13th Century). A priest of Saidai-ji Temple opened it as a holy place, and started a meeting in order to save poor commoners.

I don't think the rotated images quite work and would engage the eye better if they were straight, sorry.
Interesting place and your note.
