| While there were exceptions, life working in the bars seemed more likely to bring despair not happiness. Tomorrow I will show a picture of a simple train waitress who radiates beauty and happiness and made pitiful wages. Even the peasant girls, who worked like slaves, were generally happier. |

This is a wonderful photo. It is like a moment remembered years after the event: half-seen, slightly unclear, but clear enough to still carry the hurt of that time.
The lone figure makes me wonder: who is this person? What are they thinking about that has them in such a despairing pose? And now, looking back on the photo years later, what has become of them?
Very very nice. In its own way this photo reveals a much more hidden history than your Godzilla pictures possibly could.
