This is taken at Nanzenji temple in Kyoto. Nanzenji was built as an imperial villa in 1264. It became a temple in 1291. Its main building, the Seiryo-den, is famous for the beautiful rock garden shown here.
I especially like the contrast between the living greenery and the hard surfaces of the large rocks and raked rocks. From a zen perspective, each gives the other a context. Ying and yang, baby!
PP consisted only of a contrast adjustment and a sharpen.

A very beautiful place Mike. I love the green colors and the sand. However, the photo feels "incomplete", probably because of the cropped buildings (on the left).
A beautiful composition, Mike, and one that takes me back to more than a decade ago when we lived in Japan, and would often walk round these Zen temples and through their gardens.
Wonderful detail and lovely subdued light.
