I have seen this type of paintings in Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka also. This a depiction of Hell. You have captured the image well.

I have seen similiar in Hindu temples in statues in Asia. I also just noticed in one of my pictures, my freind's freind had a similiar poster to this on her wall.....
