Little Laotian Fisherman

Pictured this adoring little Laotian boy on a boat at the shore of Pak Beng a little village at the Mekong river in Laos.
He was playing with a bucket on a rope while I got ashore with my slow boat from Huay Xai. But when he observed me, that big fellah with his camera he looked away to his father who was helping with mooring the boat. (and don’t dare to say it was my Nikon which made him shy; I warn you Kilted :-) Anyway I took some shots and posted this one for TL.

Hello Hansie

Lovely capture, excellent sharpness, superb details and textures. Colours all clear too. I did wonder if its maybe a touch on the dark side.. but then if thats how the light was at the time then thats fine by me. You shot it as you saw it. A fine portrait.

:-)

Well Hansie I don't think his dad, uncles and neighbours are as big as you are, so you must have looked a bit like a giant.
However that look makes him seem all the more adorable.
Great capture and special thanks for sharing this one.

Hi Hans,

I do like your composition here! The boy is nicely sharp, the colours are really vivid. But I have to say that the boy os very very centered, which doesn't excite too much. Maybe a litte bit more zoomed out, a bit more detail of the onramp or boat and placing him then off-center. Well, off course I have no clue what was there to see left or right, so it might well be that this was the nicest compo possible under the circumstances. Just some thoughts!

Greetings and have a nice weekend,

Dennis

At first it didn't look too dark to me, Hans... but then I looked at Sérgio's ws and I like what he did with the brightness. Nice portrait, the boy has a very shy pose indeed, but I really like the fact he isn't looking in the lens here. That makes it a natural looking portrait, not a posed one.
Nice work... TFS

LOL.. I am sure is nothing to do with your Nikon... he is a shy boy for sure.. you have captured him very well, as if he is asking for help from his father.. :D Great sharpness and lighting, very well captured my dear.

Prachtig gedaan Hans
