Alternate title: 'Abstract Mekong Sunset II with canoe'. The silhouettes in the river are sandbars. Taken in the dry season, when the river level is low. The Sala Khounta Sunset Bar, is a good spot to take photos at sunset.

Stunning photo. I like the way the water zigzags away, leading me through the photo. Beautiful colours.

Hi Chris.
Very nice view. If I had to illustrate the rule of thirds I would use this pic from you.
Everuthing is there.
Too bad about the noise. But it is maybe a question of opinion.
Congrats.
And TFS.
Denis.

nice water - "hard" color - i like it

this is very nice... very much similar to your first in terms of color range of the river and the sun's reflection! the canoe near the sand dunes made it more interesting. the minaginary 1st and 3rd thirds on this pic are very well represented! well captured!

Well made compo in this faboulous setting in red Chris. Excellent placement of the boat and the men there. Very good.

Hi Chris,

what a great ad photo for the comunist party!
Without the canoe it could be anything - sky, earth, Mars....

;-) Thomas

I enjoy very much the overall! Colrs are fantastic, like the silouhette and the sandbars are evocative to the long trips by the water!
Great shot!

I can see it for hours, more without words, poetic for me,...I like it very much,...a perfect composition, and fantastic colors tonalities,...
Thanks for sharing,Chris.
Best Wishes
M

Great composition, great colours!

Really awesome!

Regards,
Yogi

Sunset shots are always appealing, to me at least. I love the colours here and the silhouettes. It seems strange to see a yellow sun setting in a red sky. Usually we see a red sun setting in a pink/purple sky. Very good compo.

a different but cool looking sunset photo :)
the little boat adds very well to the composition of this beautiful shot

One of the best sunset pictures I've seen recently. Great composition and perfect light. I'd say this is the November page of the calendar... TFS!

Hi Chris - it is a stunning sunset definetly worth a second show - your first being "Abstract Laotian sunset" without the canoe, which adds a lot to the composition and mood of the shot. TFS, Sam.

looks like the river is on fire Chris , very warm colors and a beautiful sunset ..

There are such beautiful places in this world, and you have captured one of them in this gorgeous sunset. the colors are stunning amd the mood serene.
There is a bit too much "noise" for me and I would have toned that down witn Neat Image...but as always, that is a matter of preference and your photo is beautiful....:O)

Wow! It's awesome! Awesome! I'm speechless!

Cheers,
Carla

Hi Chris,
What a beautiful photo and how timeless this is. It could have been taken yesterday or 500 years ago!

Hi Chris,

Wonderful photo. Wonderful reflection of sun. The object (boat) is a bonus. TFS.

Kiran.

I love the Mekong, it is so beautiful, so nice to be in a boat traveling! It changes so much as you travel!

Chris, fortunately two of your Mekong river photos were on the front page of TL. If I hadn't seen them on the front page I would have probably missed them. These are incredible settings and well photographed. The black to red to yellow combination is amazingly captured by your lens. I like this photo with the canoe over the other capture. You have an amazing eye and are by far one of the most talented photographers on this site.
Keep shooting,
Aaron

Hi Chris. I like the way this is composed and the colours are strong and well taken care of. Having seen the lower reaches of this mighty river it means a lot more to me now. Well presented. Murray.
