Laos is one of the poorest countries in South East Asia. A woman trying her luck & panning for gold along the banks of the Mekong River. Her children, dressed in rags, are just off the frame.

Hi Chris..:D... How U doing?? Nice shot!!!...We have here a place called 'Aruku Valley' in which people look out for gold too... Seems like a very very very tough thing to do... A very nice 'Daily-Life' shot with a well balanced light. Sharp!!! TFS..:D

Loads of Love,
Hima.

Hi
Nie wiedziałm, że jeszcze się szuka złota tymi metodami. Niestety, na zabawę to nie wygląda.
Pozdrawiam
Anna

yes, very tough thing to do. as u can see here chris captured a very nice scene. a mother with her children digging for gold. Supposed to be a man's work and the mother should be taking care of her children at home. well it's not their fault to be poor.

i like this shot chris.

HI Chris,
I never would have imagined Gold panning in Laos! The country brings to mind Buddhist temples and rice fields. Interesting photo.

Hello Chris,

Excellent journalistic and daily life photo.
I like the movment of the water and the difference of colors.
TFS!

Marc.

Nice piece of photo journalism Chris. Makes you think how lucky you really are.

Peter

What a difficult way to try and make a living. Reminds me of the big gold rush SA had in the 1800's. We still have many museums and even a whole little restored gold town but very few people here are still doing it.

Nothing to lose but time...... I liked the people, they were pleasant. They really have nothing in a world of poor nations!

Hi Chris!
A nice situation shot, the woman is obviously very busy looking for gold.
I'd try a closer crop. But this is also fine.
Regards,
Seb
