It is good to use a small aperture to capture more details. Yes, your flower was nicely captured in good clarity and sharpness. But I think we should be very careful using the setting, since the background will also start to 'show' its detail. Small opening is good for a small flower but not to a bigger one like these Reds. I believe that you'd agree that the background here is quite distracting. Make a more careful observation for a nicer, cleaner background when you really need to use that small opening.

Another option, I think, is giving more attention to one, just one flower but with a bigger impact, stronger impression.

And, I believe the shot was taken on mid-day where the sun was exactly over head. I think it is not really a good time to shoot flower - I prefer early morning, and I think you know why.

I had seen your portfolio on another site where you showcased a lot better shots... :)
