Hello Bill.
Yes its true.
Ferry boats are a good 'way' to transport people from one to the other side of the water.
In Holland we had it on many places too, but nowadays, tunnels and bridges are taking it over.
Ones I posted a picture of an abandoned place where the ferry was crossing every hour the Schelde Kanaal.
This small boat you shows us here, looks simulair to the ones we had on the smaller streams too.
Easy come easy go, right ?
We Wish You all the best for 2009.
Its started already at your place. We have still nearly 4 hours to go.
Weather here is misty and cold. At midnight, it will be more misty and smogie due to the fireworks.

An excellent sharp image and an interesting composition. Like the bright colours in this iamge. The brightness is good, I don't observe OE although it is a quite bright picture.

Hi Bill,

The presence of the poeple and of the cars has an effect scale. The light refkections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view leads our eyes to the opposite side of the river which is giving depth to the photo. The colors are enhanced by the quality of the light. Have a nice day.

Nice evening shot Bill. Is that the same young boy you took a picture of fishing. I recognize the yellow and pale blue. Ferrys have a charm not possessed by bridges. They force you to take time out and relax which is good for all of us.

Hope you'll excuse me for not watching this one:( Anyways, better late than never ;)
First of all I just loved the soothing blue tinge of the sky!Infact it seems as if the sky has been painted, it's looking so artistic!
Secondly the I liked the movement been captured in here. The warm colors of the ferry looks great. Pointing the "fishing boy"(?) in this entire scene was kind of exciting:D
Needless to say, nice sharpness and contrast.
Light looks very good...was it morning time?

Greetings Bill,& a Happy New Year to you & your family.What a joy it must be to the villagers of this area to now have this means of transportation, do the foot passengers have to pay or is it free for the local people?I like your angle for taking this image & for you waiting until the passengers were leaving the ferry,gives a sense of activity.
