[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
this is a shot taken last year during my project on conservation of monumental buildings in the city of Johor Bahru. My task was to use 4 months to research and reproduce all the architectural drawings for this Hindu temple in the heart of the city which is about a century old. there was no written data concerning the social, cultural and history of the temple. The end product was a set of drawings of the whole building and a recollection of the historical background and the cultural details.....it was the most enlightening and rewarding project i've worked on....spending hours daily observing, measuring and doing interviews at the temple. nothing is more fascinating than to discover the uniqueness of other races, culture and religion. it helps to cultivate an open mind.

i took lots of photographs and by the time the monograph was produced, i had more than 40 rolls of negatives....all the shots are taken with a manual slr for documentation requirements. this is one of my accidental shots.

when this photo was developed i was surprised to see a temple devotee's face at the background and gives the feeling like the 'deity' (statue of Hindu God) is watching over him....i scanned this photo, extracted the man to another layer and desatured it. no other post processing done.

i hope i can share more about this wonderful religious institution in other photos. i hope you guys will find it interesting. comments, workshops and critiques are appreciated:)

THIS is good. Like the framing and the DOF. It tells a lot of story. An echo? Devotion? I can go on and on...

bonjour eleen.
Voila encore une belle photo.
Dans celle-ci ce que j'aime c'est le contraste assez important entre cette tête bien colorée et le monsieur pensif derrière.
Un seul petit problème, la chemise du monsieur se perd dans le blanc du fond.

hello eleen.
Still veiled a beautiful photograph.
In this one what I like it is rather important contrast between this well coloured head and the pensive Mister behind.
Only one small problem, the shirt of the Mister is lost in the white of the bottom.
