after a long break at treklens, today i looked up some previous file and found this one....taken at the Arumugam Temple in the heart of Johor Bahru...another collection for my conservation project.

what i like most bout this photo is the symbolic way the deity of the goddess stands amidst the skyscraper that are competing for height and prestige....yet this humble statue on the roof of the temple remain untouched, dominant and strong....the reminder for all of us city dwellers that religion will always be part of us, the bond that unites all entities....and the higher power are held by God, can't be bought with supremacy and material entities.

hope you guys like my first posting after 2 weeks. i got a little rusty...will be back in track soon:)

pp work - added border...played with the radial blur tool for the border...i love the effect..what you think?

workshops and comments appreciated. thanks.

welcome back to TrekLens, eleen. This is really a good photo. the composition and the way and angle you shoot this photo is really excellent. I like the idea so much..a old and symbolic statue against a new and modern skycrap,..very meaningful. the DOF is very good and i like the post-processing too. very well done!

Hi Eleen, welcome back, hope you are feeling better ! Good picture and I like your pp on it !

Have a nice weekend,
Marleen

Nicely done Eleen. Good job on the post processing.

We missed you, Eleen, and happy you are back with us. I like your composition today and think it is beaufiful...not "rusty" at all....:O)

Welcome back, Eleen ... happy you show us a real photo (hahahah!). nice post process, i like this symbolic view.
Well done.
Best regards

Religion will be part of our heritage and has inspired MANKIND for fantastic buildings, works of art and acts of compasion and kindness (like mother Theresa etc.), yet divided them and (mis-)led to wars, inquisition, sharia and jihad... :-(
Nowadays the religion of fame and fortune reigns.
We, the global-city-dwellers of our times, are thought to believe by our parents, the community we live in, or the media of which we are the victims.
We believe what we want to believe in, not because it is the divine truth.

A nice picture, with colour vs. grey contrast, economic straight against artfully curved. As the colours indicate, I believe it was taken on a cloudy day, which is a loss for the colour, and a gain for a more equalised levels.

Welcome back Eleen, hope you are feeling better. Your picture is very good.

I like the border and the blur and the statue - not so much the facade. But what the heck, there is nice contrast between old and modern to it.

Is there a connection with the BG building Eleen? if there isn't I would clone out the building complete and left some negative space on the right..the statue on its own is a great shot to !would make aws..but my ws for today are used.maybe tommorow !

Nice composition and DOF Eleen! I like it!

Skye

It is impressive statue and colors that emphasizes it.

bonjour ELEEN .
belle composition de ta photo et un aussi un beau cadre.
bravo à toi.
bye....tanbinh

I like this photo. Interesting that the blur effect doesn't really affect the building, but adds a mystical effect to the statue. The only thing I would have done different is erase what little blur effect is on the building.
