another sharing of the Hindu Temple in Johor Bahru...hope i am not beinhg boring with so many postings...just wanna share my amazement of another culture and religion with all of you....

this photo is taken during the celebration due to Lord Muruga's birthday....the thanksgiving and blessing ceremony began with chantings and preparation of the holy water ( made from 69 different herbs ) ...then the most important part of the ritual is the breaking of coconut (prepared by devotees as a gift to the temple)...

shown here is the priest breaking the coconut to reveal its pure white 'flesh' in contrast with its external image...the symbolism of the process is to break the unfortunate luck and the juice of the coconut represents bad elements that are chased away (left the coconut husk)...and all that is left are purity and peace in the soul....this is where one finds the real voice of God....

i love the spiritual inspiration in religious ceremonies...it's simplicity makes us believe and hold strong...to be pure in thought and action....to forget the cruel realities of the world...and for a moment, just appreciate the God's greatest gift - life itself.

pp work - blinding white speaks for purity and spirituality....i cropped the figure, added soft light and a little diffuse glow...the only thing i don't like after it is done is the way the man looked unbalanced....due to careless cropping by me...my apologies:)

i hope you like my posting....tell me what you think.

-the voice has always been there...only if you listen hard....with an open heart -

Eleen, thanks for sharing with us this kind of shot, as you say, another culture.

Good share. I like how you put the man in a white atmosphere.

The white gives it that certain mood ...very ggod note an Picture ..like the pp you did here!

Very strong, your note suits the image and vice versa. I like the way you do the PP work here. It really seems to have a purpose and a reason. And everything is so diffuse and at the same time blindingly sharp. Very impressive. The original photo must also have been something else.

Eleen, another piece of great work from you.. yes, i agree with all that the white color really did the trick... some feelings of purity and spirituality! your photoshop post processing really good... not because of the technique..but because of the way you think..simply creative and effective! well done!

Excellent composition, the white gives a destinct 'spiritual' feel to this photo, I agree with your notes, it's afterall ALL about GOD (smile)
Wonderfull inspiring post, TFS

In s.India, they pierce faces during this time, for this God!!! The picture feels like a dream almost!

Great publication here, superb, I like this work and note.
Compliments
