this is a photo taken without any thoughts or purpose. that day was our portfolio review day. meaning a day where we display all our work and wait for lecturers to criticise, give marks and also discuss....we're not allowed in the room when they are discussing. design is very subjective, and biasness is not a big issue here, so this is how the university try to promote fairness, by the display of work to all lecturers of the faculty.

i was sitting on the floor, extremely bored, waited for 3 hours and they are still in the room....my friend, Salina, sat across me and she was fed up too, we did not sleep the night before so everyone's in a foul mood.

i just took my camera and took the shot, took lots of other shots of legs and shoes. this one i like most, because of the way the light seems to wash pass her.

the photo was not in focus and very grainy so i tried my best to touch up. i applied a little diffuse glow to one level, adjusted curves, sharpen, readjusted curved, played around with some more filters, and ended up with this.

this is actually my first attempt at taking shots like this. how do u guys like it? does it look over exposed? i just love the whiteness, hope it's good for u too:)thanks.

This is a very nice composition and photo. There is too much saturation though. I can see green spots in her arm. I love the large white areas. Very nice! I am posting a workshop now. Hope you do not mind. JP

Nice shot! The exposure/composition actually work well for me - your subject isn't overexposed at all, the background is, but since that's not an important element of the scene it works. jcandeli has pointed out the only flaw that I can see - a little coloured ISO noise on her face/arms - try converting the image to LABcolor and running a small radius (2px) gaussian blur on the A and B channels - that should fix it nicely! Well captured, thanks for sharing :-D

hi eleen, nice to see you back 'active' in treklens.. so ur final exams and projects are all over, rite? so .. really expect more great photos from you.. hehe.. about this photo.. i think it is very unique.. i would say that your 'photoshop-post-processing' skills really great..as u always turn normal photos into some great piece of art. i like the high white background here.. giving more strength to the boring girl there... well..she really looks boring and u captured it very well... well done.

I love whiteness like this, so much space and airiness. It's not too overexposed for me at all. But I agree with the noise comment, it's a bit distracting on her arms.

Hope your portfolio review went well...

Nice work, Eleen. Hope your marks were alright and your foul mood is over ;P. I agree with Jean Pierre and Adrian about the arm, as for the compo I think the massive amount of white space works fine. Very moody shot. TFS.

photo expressive!!
beautyful portrait!

bye....tanbinh.

Hi Eleen,
Very well done. The over-exposured white part in the left intensifies the idea of boring very much.
Great composition.

Nice modern portrait Eleen, hope the long night work was worth it. Like this portrait as I said very modern with the mobile phone. Looks like she is busy texting (another modern trend). Nice atmospheric shot though. TFS

I love the whites in here! The composition is great. The only thing I dislike was already mentioned by other members so I'm not going to talk about it.The mood is great too, well captured...I know what it feels like to be waiting for the final judgment.I'm a Industrial and Interior Design student,on the 3rd year now...I know what that girl and you felt that day!
Raquel

Good expressive portrait of a boring, but perhaps stressful day. I like the airy feel with the white very much and the offset cropping. Hope all went well with your results!.....:O)
