[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Recently I am learning and trying to take more nature photos, like plants and flowers. I found it is really hard to take, to get a good photo or nice composition. Anyway, just try lor...

I took this photo few weeks ago at Penang Botanical Garden, and i think its a purple orchid.

I know this is very common flowers and not really interesting, but this time i try to play around with Photoshop and with a new technique that i learned from a colleague of mine... i try to make the flowers and the leaves looks more 'soft'. The original photo is much more sharper.

These are the things that i did, using Photoshop :

1. Crop the image
2. Duplicate layer
3. Gaussian Blur [+5.0] on Layer A
4. Set Layer B Opacity to 50%
5. Merge All Visible Layers
6. Resized the image
7. Added canvas and texts

I am still learning how to use these softwares to enhance the photo i took, and hope to learn more from u guys here.

Very nice, I think you did very well with the softening - the flowers look pretty. I'm glad you didn't try it on the leaves - they are very nice with the water-drops on them. Good sunny picture with beautiful colours. Thanks for posting.

Good job Thong, very nice vivid and yet soft colours in you shot here. well done

Hi Hoong,
a very nice capture of the periwinkle. Nice colour with good green leaves as background.
The water droplets make it morea ttractive.
Well composed shot.

Foozi
